Hello Merrill Families,

I hope all is well as we begin our last week of November. Here is our weekly information:

  • Thanksgiving Recess – Wednesday is a half-day of remote instruction for students in Cohort A & B. Students who attend in school instruction on Wednesday morning will have a half-day as usual, with no remote learning in the afternoon. School resumes Monday, November 30th.
  • Appropriate winter Clothing – just a friendly reminder…please dress your child appropriately for the winter weather. As we previously discussed, classrooms will be cooler this year due to having the windows slightly open and we will continue to go outside for mask breaks and recess when the weather cooperates, and it is safe to do so. We suggest dressing in layers in order to accommodate for the changing temperature in the classrooms.
  • B-R Travel Guidelines – If you and your family are planning on traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday, please contact Nurse Fallon at 508-824-2490 x306 or email at kfallon@bridge-rayn.org  You will find the B-R Travel Guidelines at the following link: BR's Travel to a High Risk State Guidlines.pdf
  • Ventilation in Classrooms – Please read the memo below sent by Superintendent Swenson.  Ventilation Update During Winter Months.pdf
  • Vented Masks Use at School – Mr. Swenson sent the following information regarding vented masks. A vented mask has a valve on the mask. This is the information stated by Mr. Swenson: Please note that the CDC states that vented masks do not meet the criteria for mitigating the transmission of COVID-19 respiratory droplets. The purpose of a true mitigation mask is to keep respiratory droplets from reaching others within a shared space.  Vented masks with built-in valves, however, allow air to be exhaled through these open passages and in turn could potentially result in droplets reaching other individuals. Valve masks are suitable for dust prevention during construction conditions; however, they are not effective tools for infection control.  The CDC cautions against its use.

On behalf of the entire Merrill School Staff, I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Please know that we are grateful each day for our Merrill families and students. Thank you for sharing your child with us.

All the best,

Deb Westell, Principal

Craig Poulos, Assistant Principal
