Perseverance
Fall seven times and stand up eight.” -Japanese Proverb

What does perseverance mean?
*
Continuing to do something despite difficulties or failure
*
Sticking with something, even though it is hard
*
Being hardworking
*
Never giving up!

Why is perseverance important?

* If you gave up every time something was hard, you would not grow or learn!

* You are able to learn from your mistakes

* The more you try something, the easier it becomes

* It helps improve your skills and talents

Famous people who persevered:

* Walt Disney: He was fired from his first job because his cartoons were “not creative enough.” He did not give up, and created many wonderful things like Mickey Mouse and Disney theme parks!

* Bethany Hamilton: She is a famous surfer who was attacked by a shark that took her left arm. However, she did not give up! Two years later she was the overall winner at a major surfing competition, and still surfs today.

* Albert Einstein
: He did not talk until he was 4 years old and did not learn to read until he was 7 years old. This did not stop him however, and he used grit to go on to be called “The Father of Physics” and is one of the most famous scientists in the world.
